A Case of Otitic Temporal Labe Abscess

Abstract
The authors have experienced a case (19 year-old female) of temporal lobe abscess due to acte flare-up of chronic suppurative otitis media associated with cholesteatoma. Infection seemed to have spread there directly through the tegmen of the mastoid.
Even with the radical mastoidectomy and the evacuation of the abscess through the mastoid cavity, she died on the 21st post-operative day.
On autopsy, the temporal lobe revealed a huge abscess in diameter of 4.5cm, filled with profuse foul smelling greenish thick pus.
